GLOBALink | Floating PV power plant contributes to carbon emission reduction in east China

Source: Xinhua| Published: 2021-12-02

A floating photovoltaic (PV) power plant is built in the Jiangji Reservoir in Anhui Province, east China. The plant covers a water area of 66.67 hectares with a designed installed capacity of 50MW. Compared with traditional PV power plants, this one does not occupy any land resources.

The power plant is expected to generate over 70 million kWh per year, which will save over 20,000 tonnes of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 40,000 tonnes. The first phase of the plant was put into use on Nov. 30.

China's installed capacity of renewable energy power generation reached one billion kilowatts by the end of October this year, doubling that at the end of 2015, according to data from the National Energy Administration. The installed solar power capacity reached 282 million kilowatts, continuing to rank first globally.
